 Puppy Start Program

Congratulations! You’ve welcomed a puppy to your home...Puppies are so cute but they are A LOT of work! Let me help you get your puppy started on the right “Paw”!

We’re so happy you’re reaching out for training now, while your puppy is a little learning sponge. We want to take advantage of this very important development time so let’s work together to use positive puppy parenting to establish healthy habits now as we lay the foundation to help prevent future behavioral problems.

By helping you understand how puppies think and learn, we’ll help you manage common puppy behaviors like nipping, chewing, house training issues, jumping up by looking at why they’re doing it and how we can replace these unwanted behaviors with more desirable ones.

You and your puppy will learn:

  • Routine building for crate training, feeding, healthy sleep and more

  • Puppy proofing your home and yard and why boundaries are so important

  • Early socialization - What is it and what should you be doing now?

  • Focus and engagement

  • Rewarding calm behaviors

  • Being polite with guests

  • Foundation cues such as Sit, Down, Wait, Leave it/Drop it

  • Reliable Come

  • Loose leash walking

  • Guidance in purchasing the right supplies, toys, puzzles etc.

  • Lots of moral support!

Maybe you have a newly adopted young shelter or rescue dog in need of learning some new manners?

Has your older, four-legged family member forgotten a few of his previously learned behaviors?

Perhaps your dog is fine with his manners but taking him for walks is a challenge?

Simple manners are a big confidence booster because your dog will now understand what you’re asking! You can feel comfortable inviting guests over, walking through the farmers market or enjoying your morning walk together.

Basic manners can include:

  • The all-important “Come!”

  • How to teach focus on you

  • How to use Wait and Stay

  • “Leave it” and “Off” - for temptations like food and greetings

  • Relaxed walking on leash

  • How to lie down

  • How to politely greet people without jumping and more!
